Basildon is on the cusp of an exciting new chapter.
Our vision is to evolve and enhance the Eastgate Centre. Here, you can view our proposals:
We want people to aspire to live, work and play here, in a place of fantastic homes, businesses and activities for all within welcoming green and public spaces. We have been asking the local community to leave their opinions, that will help us to shape the future of the town.
We want to hear from you
The Eastgate Quarter is being designed with the communities of Basildon at its heart, and the opinions of local people are crucially important. We want to work with those who live, work and spend time in the town so that we can develop something that can last long into the future and that the people of Basildon can be proud of.
This website displays our proposals. Although these are outline planning proposals, our journey with the local community is ongoing and we would like to thank everyone who has shared their feedback with us.
We have now submitted an outline planning application to the Council for these proposals, and they are carrying out their own statutory consultation on the scheme. This outline application seeks the part-demolition and redevelopment of the Eastgate Centre and neighbouring land to provide a mix of town centre uses, including new homes, retail, commercial and community floorspace, as well as significant landscaping and public spaces for the entire community to enjoy. To view the planning application or to leave a comment directly with the council, please visit https://www.basildon.gov.uk/eplanning, and enter planning application reference number 20/01104/OUT.
